We quickly discovered that Outlook 2007 could not connect to the Exchange 2003 server. I really thought I have lost it all as the ESXi did not find the data store! After some fiddling around I got I all back.įirst I powered on the DC1, then the EXCHANGE server and then some other servers in order of importance. Then I can power on again and get thinges running. Normally the whole system needs to be powered off for 20 minutes or so. I powered off all VM’s from within the VIC and shut down the ESXi host from within the VIC. I have experienced this three or four time before and did therefore not panic. But when I browsed the data store all VM’s were lost. At a glance it all seemed normal – all servers were running. I examined the ESXi host with Virtual Infrastructure Client. Suddenly we lost connection to shares and Exchange server. The hardware is a HP D元80 G3 server with a direct attached StorageWorks 4214 with 14 SCSI disks (72 GB 10K) in RAID 10 – or 0+1 if you like. All my servers runs as Virtual Machines on an ESXi 3.5 installation. I run a domain with six Windows 2003 Enterprise servers (all 32 bit).
